Rewritten sentences
- Appena Barbara sarà venuta da noi, prepareremo la cena insieme.
- Dopo che avrai pulito la tua stanza, potrai uscire.
- Quando la cantante avrà scaldato la voce, inizierà a cantare.
- Appena avremo valutato le opzioni, prenderemo una decisione.
How it works
The futuro anteriore is the futuro semplice of avere or essere + the past participle. It describes an action that will be completed before another future action, so each sentence has two future moments:
- the earlier action (futuro anteriore), in the appena / dopo che / quando clause
- the later action (futuro semplice), in the main clause
Verb forms
- sarà venuta: venire takes essere, so the participle agrees with the subject (Barbara → venuta). With a plural subject it would be saranno venuti/e.
- avrai pulito, avrà scaldato, avremo valutato: transitive verbs take avere, and the participle doesn't change. Here pulire → pulito, scaldare → scaldato, valutare → valutato.
Connectors
- appena, quando, dopo che are all followed by the futuro anteriore when the main clause is in the future. This differs from English, which uses the present or present perfect ("As soon as she has come", "When you have cleaned").
- Dopo che takes the finite verb, never the infinitive. (Dopo aver pulito is a different construction with the same meaning.)
Word order
The subject can come before or after the auxiliary: Appena Barbara sarà venuta or Appena sarà venuta Barbara. The first is more natural. In sentence 4, the subject (la cantante) is placed between quando and the verb, which is standard.
